A good anti aging skin cream should be free from preservatives such as parabens.  Parabens are known to cause irritations, rashes, allergic reactions, and even contact dermatitis.  They are also similar to estrogen in their chemical structure and are known to promote the growth of cancerous tumors.  They are to be avoided at all costs. 

A good anti aging skin cream should also be free from additives like fragrances and coloring.  Some of these ingredients can actually be harmful to your skin, not to mention your overall health. 

Alcohols are often added to many anti aging skin creams, but are to be avoided because they cause dryness and can even damage blood vessels. 

Also to be avoided in an anti aging skin cream are DEA, MEA, TEA, and dioxane, all of which are believed to be carcinogenic.  Dioxane can be particularly nasty and is believed to affect the kidneys, respiratory tract, and the nervous system. 

One final warning: don’t be fooled by any anti aging skin cream that boasts being “collagen based.”  While it is certainly true that collagen is essential to healthy skin, the best and most effective products contain natural ingredients that work to stimulate your body’s own production of collagen and elastins.  Collagen based creams are essentially useless because the collagen molecules in these products are too big to penetrate the cells of your skin.
